Salami gets new wheels...

Steve's new wheels
Getting fitted!!
Some hot-lookin' wheels!
Do you need a license to drive this thing?
I guess Steve doesn't need snow tires in Florida.
Houston, we have lift off!

Here's some pictures Steve sent of his new chair. We are very close to passing the $5,000 mark (if we haven't already with this week's donations) on our way to $9,000. Thank you all for being a part of this for him. We are on our way, but not there yet. Please pass this on through your networks to everyone who's helped out with this. God bless you, Steve!!

Helping out a Brother

Brothers,

Max Ramsey has raised some money via his Facebook appeal to help Steve get a new wheelchair. That is great, but we need more.  If you can spare a few dollars, it would help.  It all adds up.  However, we need it to add up to about $9,000.  Being a "quad," Steve needs a very specialized and sophisticated piece of equipment to give himself some type of mobility.  While Medicare pays a portion, his end is obviously steep.

Checks can be sent directly to Steve, or if a tax credit is desired checks can be sent through Max's church's 501(c) 3 status. Make the check out to "Immanuel-Brookfield", and write "Steve Caputo Wheelchair Fund" in the memo blank. And, please, send the check to:

Let's Help a Brother Out! Thanks to MAX...

A Way to Help Someone Who Needs our Help
I need our collective help!

Hello Facebook Friends:

I hope you all are well and that God is with you in these challenging times. Most of you who are Facebook friends of mine have been lifting up a friend of mine who I have called siimply "Steve" here of Facebook. His full name is Steve Caputo. As many of you who have been praying for him know, Steve became a quadriplegic in August of 1991 via freak diving accident in California. Steve and I (both University of Richmond grads) have recently re-connected after about a decade through Facebook. Obviously, his life has been one gutsy, inspiring challenge since then. The numerous complications that arise from his condition are a constant struggle that none of us can imagine or fully understand unless we lived it. He almost passed away from a serious infection in November (that we were praying for him through) and just two weeks ago had surgery on a closed pressure sore that was reaching his bone (that we were also praying for him through). Despite his condition, he DOES NOT give up!! His constant recoveries from set-backs, perseverance, and will to live are inspiring/miraculous feats of fortitude at a level that redefines "courage"! He has become an amazing graphic artist with his Mac and strives to be a productive & contributing member of society. He is in desperate need of a new, specialized wheel chair that would greatly enhance his mobility and give him just some of the simple freedoms that all of us don’t think twice about (unless we lost them). Fortunately, Medicaid will pay about 90% of this - unfortunately that leaves Steve and his wife Jayne $9000.00 to come up with! They have been hit very hard by the economy in Florida and this is why I am reaching out to all of you for help. If we put our resources together, I believe that we can get this done for him! Also, could each of you please pass this on to your other networks that are not receiving this message! No amount is too small (or too large) to donate. Times are tough, but the toughness that Steve exhibits on a daily basis dwarfs any economic crisis. Steve would not ask us for help, that's typical, and just another reason why we should help him. Obviously, every penny will go toward his "new ride" which will greatly improve his quality of life. His contact information and address are listed below. If you would rather not donate directly to him, or if you need a receipt for tax purposes from a 501(c)3 organization, you can make the check out to my church (Immanuel), and write "Steve Caputo Wheelchair fund" in the memo blank. Address it to my address below and I will see to it that you get a receipt. For those who wish to remain anonymous, please contact me and we will find a way to get your donation to him in a method that suits you. Once you donate, please shoot me an email (mrramsey@earthlink.net) or a Facebook message so we can keep track of our progress. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. For those who are able to help Steve, he wishes to thank you (as do I) in advance for your kindness. God Bless!
